Description:
This 1972 red TR6 is a real eye-catcher with the top down and the
New Tan colored tonneau on. While we have a lot of very nice—and more
expensive--classics in our facility, this car stands out as a
crowd-pleaser. We have been servicing this car since 2002 and we know
it to be well maintained by a conscientious owner—a hard-to-find
combination. Finished with a sporty red exterior and New Tan interior,
this vehicle is appealing to everyone who enjoys sports cars. This TR6
is in excellent running condition and is being sold for the owner who
just purchased a TR8.
This vehicle has a lively 6 cylinder engine that is mated to a
4-speed, non-over drive synchromesh transmission which makes driving it
both exciting and enjoyable. The car starts right up, the engine is
strong, the transmission is smooth, and the steering is tight, resulting
in a very quick car with good road-holding characteristics. Equipped
with 2 dual downdraft Webber carburetors and a Anza free flow dual
exhaust system, this car sounds as good as it performs.
This TR6 has been tastefully upgraded with:
• A Motolita wood rimmed steering wheel
• Nicely recovered seats in New Tan
• Matching top, boot cover, and tonneau
• A high-gloss burl walnut dash
• A chrome luggage rack
• An AM/FM CD player
All the lights, gauges and equipment work, and there are four, almost
new, 185/15 Michelin X Red Line radials mounted on the wheels. In sum,
this attractive TR6 is ready—and able—to drive wherever you might
desire.
While the 72,261 miles showing on the odometer are not the vehicle’s
actual mileage, we do know that the current owner has driven the car
only about 1700 miles in the four years he has owned it; and the vehicle
will come with a fully-documented service history since 2002. Although
the car is in very good condition, it is a driver’s car, not a show
car. An earlier re-paint is in very nice condition with the exception
of a few minor chips that have been touched up, and some cracking of the
paint on the rear body panel between the top and the trunk lid. A
similar condition exists on a small portion of the trunk lid, all of
which may have resulted from too thick a coat of paint in those areas.
The interior is generally in fine condition with freshly redone seats,
interior door panels, and carpets. The re-upholsterer of the front
seats omitted a small amount of tacking and gluing which, if done, would
make the interior almost perfect. Finally, there is a broken hood hinge
bolt on the passenger’s side causing the hood to be somewhat out of
alignment, a condition that should be remedied by the new owner.
