Description:
This one-of-a kind 1957 Ford Ranchero was featured at the Cavalcade
of Customs in the 2004 AutoRama, Detroit, Michigan. It is beautifully
finished in a red/white paint combination and a matching rolled and
pleated red/white vinyl interior, and the vehicle has been enhanced with
several custom features:
• shaved door handles,
• nosed hood,
• custom grill,
• rear fender skirts,
• color matching vinyl-covered padded tonneau,
• carpeted bed, and
• ingenious “rumble seat” for tailgate
This Ranchero has 73,486 original miles and, as is frequently required
for these vehicles, was fitted with new rocker and rear quarter panels
during the restoration/customization process. The paint is in virtually
perfect condition as is the interior.
While the vehicle has a number of custom features, the treatment of the
pickup bed is the most ingenious. Fully carpeted and covered by a
matching vinyl upholstered hard tonneau, this Ranchero features a
“rumble tailgate seat” for car shows and tailgating parties.
The drive train of the vehicle is stock, with a 6 cylinder engine mated
to an automatic transmission. Driving is effortless since there are both
power steering and power brakes.
This is one vehicle that is truly unique, and provides a nostalgic
reminder of the ‘50s. With the debut of the 1957 Ranchero, Ford
introduced a whole line of light pickups that were in a class by
themselves. This particular Ranchero stands head and shoulders above
other ‘57s and is ready for “show” or “go” as either a weekend trophy
winner or a unique, but dependable, head-turner on the street.
