Description:
This 1977 Lincoln Mark V Cartier Designer Series is truly a car
owned and driven by a “little old lady in tennis shoes”. A car that they
bought new from a Virginia dealer, she and her husband (now deceased)
put only 28,249 miles on this car in the last 30 years. As close to
pristine as they come, this Cartier edition comes with the original
window sticker, the original bill of sale, the original owner’s
handbook, the original showroom brochure and even the original 8-track
demo tape! About the only things that aren’t original on this Mark V are
the oil which was changed regularly and the 235/70R/15 whitewall tires.
This Lincoln is road-ready and has just passed a Virginia safety
inspection.
Each 1977 Cartier Designer Edition (described fully in the sales
brochure that comes with the car) was finished in a Dove Gray exterior,
a matching gray vinyl roof with opera windows that have the Cartier
designation imprinted on them, and a matching gray leather interior.
This is a car that has been kept so nicely that one has to look hard to
identify any imperfections.
The original exterior paint shines brightly and is so perfect that all
we could find were a small paint chip on the lower trunk, a couple of
door edge paint chips on the driver’s door, and several small paint
imperfections on the filler panel under the left headlight. All of the
chrome is bright and clean. The vinyl roof appears perfect as well.
Needless to say, this car has no rust on the body.
The mint original interior is exceptionally clean and was clearly
well-cared for. The leather is supple, the carpeting is clean and the
headliner is spotless. The interior wood and chrome trim are all perfect
as well. All of the instruments, radio, power antenna, etc. work with
the exception of the clock and the gas gauge. The car has 6-way power
seats for both the driver and passenger, and both work properly. The car
is equipped with 4-wheel power disc brakes, power steering (with tilt),
cruise control and auto temperature control and all work properly
although the AC seems to need a recharge. The speedometer appears
accurate up to about 50 mph and thereafter runs fast, a condition that
may correct itself with more use.
The engine is the 460 cubic inch V-8 and it appears to run properly with
no hesitation. Similarly, the automatic transmission shifts smoothly and
at the proper intervals. The brakes are good and stop the car in a
straight line. The tires are excellent with most of their tread life
left.
All of the safety equipment works: turn signals, headlights, brake
lights, backup lights, license plate light, horn, wipers, etc.
This car is as close to “show room fresh” as you can get for a 30-year
old car with 28,249 miles. When you see this Mark V you will be able to
visualize it having been garage-kept for its whole life and driven by
this nice “little old lady” from Virginia. You will have to look far and
wide to find a nicer 1977 Mark V Cartier at such a reasonable price.
