The Perfect Muscle Car Combination

A convertible top, a powerful 396 V-8, a 4-speed transmission and a true Super Sport:  that’s what defines this mid-‘60’s Chevrolet Impala.  Add to that the original engine and a car that looks and drives like new, this becomes a true collectible with only upside appreciation in its future.

Excellent Finishes

Our 1965 convertible has a nice respray to what appears to be its original Madeira Maroon finish.  The paint is in good condition with few visible nicks or chips, but falls just short of being show-quality.  It is bright and fresh, without any dullness.

The convertible top is black and is in like-new condition with a clear back glass window.  The power lowering/raising mechanism works properly.

The vinyl upholstery is white and is in excellent condition without any signs of wear.  It is accentuated by the convertible top boot cover which is also white.

Desirable SS Option

This convertible is fitted with the very desirable Super Sport option, which includes front bucket seats and a center console.  It also has factory tachometer inset into the dash.

Mechanically: a Powerhouse

Equipped with the 396 L35 325 h.p. engine, this car moves right away from the lesser 327s.  This is the original engine and it starts, runs and performs like it did from the factory.  There is no hesitation as the engine pulls through its power curve and has 410 foot pounds of torque to make city driving a pleasure.  The car is just as happy cruising along at 2000 rpms as  it is when it is winding up towards redline.

This convertible has a four-speed manual transmission that is as smooth as silk.  Up-shifting and down-shifting are effortless, making this a pleasant car to drive.  It feels as if the car wants to respond to the driver rather than the driver having to force it to respond.

Originality, Power and Class:

Hard to Beat; Harder to Find

One can look far and wide but finding a 396, 4-speed ‘65 Impala convertible with its original engine, resprayed to its original—and very desirable--color, with an immaculate interior will be a Herculean task.

AND, It’s Ready to Go!

This SS convertible is ready to roll out of our showroom to a car show, a night on the town, or a pleasant drive into the country.  The gauges all work as does all of the safety equipment.  The heater works as we can attest after a top-down test drive in 30 degree weather!  The clock works, but the original radio will need some attention.

The engine compartment has been nicely detailed and, other than needing a dusting, should be ready for the spring car shows.  It has one of the cleanest trunks we have seen without a whisper of evidence of rust or corrosion. This is a car that is ready to be enjoyed today and tomorrow rather than being a starting point for a summer project.
