1975 Caprice Convertible --  30,550 Miles

Year:  1975
Make:  Chevrolet
Model:  Caprice Classic Convertible
Price:  $24,900

Description:

When GM signaled that it was going to end production of Chevrolet convertibles in 1975, the original owner—a Chevrolet dealer executive—bought this one new knowing that it would eventually become a classic.  Not only did he pick out a very attractive color combination but he also kept the window sticker, build sheet and a promotional packet that GM provided to its dealers to use in selling these convertibles.   Plus he kept most of the  records and receipts of maintenance and work done to the car from the day he bought it.

After 23 years and 21,000 miles, the car was sold to its second owner who added 9,000+ miles during the next 11 years.  This fully equipped two-owner Caprice Custom convertible with only 30,557 total miles is now being offered for sale.

This is a striking convertible finished in Chevrolet’s Medium Red paint.  The red finish, which had some paint work done in 1993, is a perfect complement to the white interior and white convertible top, making this an attractive car either with the top up or down.  All of the chrome is in very good condition as is the glass—including the glass rear convertible window.

The white vinyl interior is in excellent condition and offers the dual advantage of being cool to the touch as well as contrasting nicely with the red exterior paint.  Similarly, the power convertible top is in very good condition and the power lifting mechanism works properly.

This is a fully-optioned car, with power windows [the contacts on the driver’s door work intermittently and need cleaning/replacing] and locks, power steering and brakes, factory air conditioning that blows cold, the original AM/FM stereo radio that functions, tilt, cruise, and even the clock works!

This Caprice Classic convertible features the 400 cubic inch displacement V-8 engine and Turbo Hydra-matic automatic transmission.  The engine starts immediately and runs properly.  The transmission shifts smoothly at the proper shift points.  Driving down the road, the suspension provides a smooth ride and the power steering makes effortless normal driving as well as parking and other low-speed maneuvers.  The power front disk brakes bring the car to a prompt stop.

Of course all of the safety equipment functions properly (lights, turn signals, brake and back-up lights, horn, wipers, etc.).  This car has 4 Avon 235/75R15 tires with plenty of tread left.  They are accented by the Chevrolet wire wheel covers offered as an option for the 1975 model year.

This low-mileage sporty convertible is truly an eye catching classic: the last edition of a line of Chevrolet convertibles that helped shape America’s love for “top-down” driving.  This is a car that will wow them at the cruise-ins, at the grocery store or at the country club—and it provides dependability that your family and guests will appreciate.
