Description:
This Cadillac DeVille convertible is a great driver that has
recently undergone a fairly complete cosmetic refreshing that includes:
• Recent respray to factory original color
• New leather interior to the original pattern
• New top with a glass rear window
This convertible has very pleasing color scheme that includes a blue
exterior, white seats, blue carpeting, and a white top. As the pictures
show, it looks as good with the top up as it does with the top down. The
factory skirts on the rear wheels add to the overall stately lines of
this model.
The paint looks very good but is not concours. There are a few paint
nicks, a slight abrasion/dent on the trunk lid, and a couple of dimples
on the upper right rear fender. There was a patch panel repair to both
the lower front fenders behind the wheel wells before the respray. The
only sign of external rust is a small area (approximately 1” x 5”—see
picture) on the bottom of the rear left fender just forward of the tail
light assembly. The underside of the car shows no rust in the floor pans
or rocker panels but has the normal surface rust on the frame.
The top lowering mechanism works properly in both the up and down modes.
The newly recovered front and rear seats were done in white leather in
the original pattern. Both front seats are electric six-way, but the
mechanism in the passenger seat is not functioning.
All of the safety features on the car (lights, turn signals, wipers)
work but the horn does not. All of the glass is good, however the power
window lift of the left rear quarter window does not function. The car
is equipped with seat belts and comes with the original factory owners
manual.
The car’s 472 c.i./375 h.p. Cadillac engine runs well and the
transmission shifts properly. The power brakes work well, although the
instrument panel brake light comes on when the pedal is depressed. The
power steering works properly enabling this classic to be easily driven
by a man or woman. The car has four virtually new BF Goodrich T/A
P235/75R15 radial whitewall tires.
The climate control on the car works, but the air conditioning must be
manually transferred from the heat mode as warmer weather approaches.
(The owner tells us that the A/C functions properly but we have not
tested it.) The car has power locks, but the mechanism opens but doesn’t
lock the passenger door. The AM-FM radio functions, but the clock and
the cruise control do not. This convertible is equipped with the
optional tilt/telescoping steering column.
All in all, this is a nice Cadillac convertible that looks good and
drives well; it will be a head turner on the highway and respectable at
local car shows and cruise-ins.
