Description:
This 1965 Plymouth Barracuda is the Formula (S) version with the
optional 273 cubic inch V8, which makes it a more desirable model among
the early Barracudas. It has recent white paint with a blue racing
stripe and a new blue vinyl interior. This is an entry level vehicle for
someone who wants to own the Plymouth built in response to the
introduction of the Ford Mustang.
The mechanical systems of the car are in average condition for a car
that is 42 years old. The engine is strong but runs a bit rough. The
transmission is good but seems to shift a bit early. The car has power
brakes and power steering, both of which work fine.
The body had rust repairs done before it was painted, and there are no
exterior signs of bubbling. The frame is clean but the driver’s side
floor has been repaired. All of the glass is good, but the rear windows
are hard to crank all the way shut.
The gauges work properly with the exception of the tachometer, as do the
safety features (lights, wipers, horn, turn signals). There is an
aftermarket AM/FM radio that works properly. The tires, 195/70R/14s with
raised letters, have plenty of tread left. The heater works, although
the fan is noisy. There are cracks in the steering wheel, but they don’t
interfere with the driving experience.
All in all, this Barracuda is fairly priced and a good introduction to
the early muscle cars.
