Estate Auction and Fall Swap Meet

On Saturday, September 25, 2010, the Classic Car Center hosted an Estate Auction and Fall Swap Meet at its facility on Lee Hill Drive.

 The Auction, called by noted auctioneer Buddy Updike, was a no-reserve disposal of the life-long collection of signs and memorabilia of a well-known car enthusiast and Fredericksburg businessman.  Approximately 400 bidders were registered for simultaneous in person and internet bidding and almost 500 separate lots were sold.  Those items included large gas station signs, neons from car dealers, a show-quality 1962 Studebaker Hawk, and a host of other items and vehicles.

 Simultaneously, the Classic Car Center again hosted an outdoor Swap Meet where almost 50 vendors sold parts and other car related items.  It is estimated that about 1,500  bidders, vendors and spectators participated.
