Description:
The MGB brings the pleasure of driving a sports car to a truly
affordable level, and this Burgundy ’79 model is no exception. It is a
blast to drive—top up or down—and pleasing to the eye. Unlike many other
sports cars, these MGBs have room enough for most drivers and can be
driven year around. A nice running, low-mileage California car!
Refinished in the original burgundy, this MGB has a very pleasing look.
The body is free from dents and, other than a few stone chips, the paint
is clean and bright. Being a California car, the vehicle is largely free
of rust other than some bubbling under the paint behind the front wheels
and surface rust on the undercarriage. The seats are tan and could
benefit from a refreshing. The dash has a crack in the vinyl and the
driver’s seat—not atypical—needs a spot weld. The top is in good
condition as is the rear window.
Mechanically, the car runs well: the 4 cylinder engine starts right up
and the transmission shifts properly. The odometer reads slightly less
than 46,000 miles, which the owner believes to be the original mileage.
The underside of the car is largely free of rust and in a condition that
is consistent with both the car’s mileage and its previous home.
Everything on this MGB works: lights, turn signals, horn, wipers,
etc.—not something that is always found on British cars—with the
exception of the emergency brake linkage. The steering is tight and the
brakes are good. All in all, this is a car that is ready to be driven on
a rally or to the mall. And wherever you take it, you will have fun
getting there and still have money left in the bank!
