Description:
Having an expertise in the service and restoration of British cars, we
see a lot of TR6s, but they don’t get much nicer than this one. A
low-mileage (59,041) car with the optional factory hardtop, this Triumph
is a pleasure to drive and would be a contender at any local British car
show.
This TR6 has been refinished to its original factory color, Emerald
Green, and the paint on the car and hardtop is in very good condition
with only a few imperfections. It has a red pinstripe that coordinates
with the Redline tires. The paint is deep and lustrous, with a bright
shine.
The interior is black vinyl with no rips or tears. The carpeting is
black as well. The headliner in the hardtop is free of stains or rips
and is in overall very nice condition. The car has a mahogany steering
wheel that nicely sets off the wood on the dash. The convertible top is
black and it looks as if it may never have been used.
The engine compartment is very clean, as is the engine itself. This TR
has been upgraded with a Petronix ignition system, and the car has been
fitted with a new radiator and shroud.
There are no signs of rust on the exterior of the car or any of the
visible interior surfaces. The have been new exterior rockers fitted and
a portion of one of the inner rockers is rusted. The frame appears
rust-free (other than normal surface rust) as is the undercarriage.
Mechanically, the car starts right up and runs strongly. The 1973 model
year was the last before smog controls forced a lowering of the
compression ratio with the resultant loss of horsepower. As a result,
this TR is very quick and responsive, running smoothly through all
points on the tachometer. The all synchro 4-speed transmission works
flawlessly in both up and down shifts. The brakes bring this car to a
stop without pulling to either side. The car is fitted with four 185 R
15 Michelin Redline tires that are virtually new.
All of the instruments function properly—fuel, amp, tach, speedometer,
oil, temperature, and the engine has extremely good oil pressure. All of
the safety equipment works although the horn functions intermittently
and the right brake light probably needs a new bulb or has a dirty
connection.
Finally, there is included a box full of spare parts and a car cover,
even though this car was garaged. There is also a factory/Bentley shop
manual that goes with the car.
If you are looking for a low-mileage, pre-emissions TR6 in the very
popular Emerald Green paint code that is a wonderful driver, this car is
for you. With the factory hardtop for those cold winter days, you can
extend your driving season by several months. This TR6 will be equally
at home on a challenging mountain road, a trip to the grocery store or
at a local car show. It will get you there and back dependably and will
be admired by all who see it on the way!
