A TRUCK TO DIE FOR!!
There is no segment of the collector vehicle hobby that is growing more rapidly than collector trucks. Finding nice ones is tough because, by definition, these trucks were—during the ‘60s and ‘70s—used for work, and often they were worked hard and put away wet. Well, here is a 1972 Chevrolet C10 Cheyenne Super Fleetside shortbed that is reliable to drive and as ready for the car shows as it is for the country club!
With Original Documentation
If you want “original” this truck has it!
· The original build sheet from GM’s Lakewood Plant in Atlanta;
· The original dealer’s invoice sheet to the first owner;
· The original inspection sheet when the truck was delivered to its first owner;
· The original Protect-O-Plate;
· The original key tags registered in the first owner’s name by GM; and
· What appears to be the original owner’s manual.
Also included in this sale is a pile of receipts documenting the work done by the current owner in the last 5 years.
With Original Factory Paint Colors
This C10 has been treated to a very nice respray in its original Olive Green and White finish. This is one of the more popular color combinations, giving the truck a true “’70’s” feel. The paint looks good without chips, dents or orange peel. The green/white exterior is complemented by a new matching green vinyl interior that appears perfect in every way. All of the glass is in good condition and the windows function as they should. Chrome is in very good condition.
Powered by a 350 V-8
This truck was built as a 350 V-8, but was repowered less than 5,000 miles ago with a GM crate 350 motor to provide the dependability that is demanded by today’s highway driving conditions. The intake and carburetor are Edelbrock, and the rest of the engine is stock GM. This engine starts right up at the turn of the key and does everything it was designed to do: move you and your cargo from point A to point B quickly and reliably. Of course since its restoration, the only cargo has been a passenger, golf clubs and a picnic basket!
With a Rebuilt Turbo 350 Transmission
At the time the new engine was installed, the original Turbo 350 automatic transmission was professionally rebuilt, so it too has less than 5,000 miles on the rebuild. It shifts properly and smoothly—again reminding us that a day in a classic truck can and should be enjoyable.
Tires, Wheels, Suspension and Brakes
As part of the continuing upgrade of this C10, the suspension was rebuilt to provide a stable driving platform. Likewise, the braking system was totally redone along with the installation of front disc brakes to provide the safety margin we all demand. The Goodyear Wrangler P235/75R15 tires are in excellent condition showing almost no wear.
Equipped, not Stripped
This C10 has the creature comforts that one wants for pleasant cruising:
· Power brakes, front disc ;
· Power steering;
· Tilt wooden steering wheel;
· Factory tach;
· AM/FM/Cassette radio;
· Retractable seat belts.
Clean, Clean, Clean
It is not an overstatement to say that this truck is almost showroom fresh—no, not new, just clean as a whistle. From the quality of the paint, to the freshness of the interior, to the cleanliness of the bed, “clean” takes on new meaning. The only things that aren’t “perfect” are a small chip on the windshield under the rearview mirror and a heater fan motor that isn’t working. Conversely, all of the lights, gauges, speedo & tach, wipers and horn (replacement button) work as new.
Driving a classic truck doesn’t
get any
better than this!!
This is the kind of truck that only comes along rarely because their owners know what they have and don’t want to part with it since replacement would be virtually impossible. Original documentation, good paint, clean cab, new or rebuilt drivetrain, rebuilt suspension, spotless bed and it drives down the road like it was just built yesterday. If you want a classic truck, don’t miss this C10!
