A True Numbers-Matching Muscle Car with Documentation

As nice as a muscle car can look, if it can’t run it has no muscle.  Well this one can run!  Plus, this is no pig in a poke, it has its original broadcast sheet (see pictures) and a stack of records from its restoration. This is a number's matching Road Runner with its original engine and transmission--both of which are stamped and correspond to the VIN.  For those of you who like decoding these cars, we have also included a picture of its fender tag.

·       High-Performance 383 V-8

Our Road Runner is equipped with a well-detailed 383 high-performance V-8 that will smoke the tires.   Suffice it to say that this motor is nothing if not muscle.  The engine starts right up and runs strong without hesitation from stop light to stop light!  This is a car that benefits from the “air grabber” hood scoop—which works.  As noted, this is the car's original engine.

·       Automatic Transmission

Put this Road Runner into gear and it shifts cleanly and properly as the engine runs it up to speed.  Again, this is the original 727 transmission that the car came with from the factory.

Excellent Cosmetics

·       Exterior

This Road Runner was resprayed in its original Vitamin C and the paint is in excellent condition.  This car was done correctly and it shows.  There is no evidence of rust on the exterior and whatever rust there may have been was dealt with during its restoration more than 10 years ago.  There are no chips or dings as this Plymouth was kept in a garage and driven only on nice days ever since its restoration.

The chrome is in very good condition as well, with only minor pitting on the frames around the vent windows.  The glass is all in good condition, and the two rear windows open outward with latches rather than winding down.   The 4 wheels are in excellent condition and are mounted with Goodyear Eagle ST P215/70 R 14 tires with most of their tread remaining (there is also a spare that appears to be from that era and may in fact be the car’s original spare).

·       Interior

While the exterior was being treated to a high quality paint job, the interior was treated with the same attention. As a result it looks almost new, finished in Burnt Orange vinyl with a front bench seat.  All of the seating appears virtually perfect with no rips, holes, tears of signs of wear, and all of the interior from the dash to the carpeting looks great.  There are two items that are less than perfect:  the steering wheel has two cracks (see pictures on our website:  classiccarcenter.net) and the vinyl on the driver’s side arm rest is cracked.  The headliner is in very good condition with only a bit of extra material above the rear window passenger shelf.

Safety Equipment, etc.

All of the safety equipment on the car works (lights, turn signals, horn, wipers), as do all the gauges with the exception of the gas gauge.  The  radio is a solid state AM/8-track unit and it works (we have not tried the 8-track player).  The dash lights are not working, possibly due to a dirty connection.

Our Road Runner also has the desirable Tic-Toc-Tach unit in which the Tach works but the Tic-Toc (clock) does not.  This is a vehicle that is ready for show or go.  All you need are the keys.

They Don’t get Much Nicer

While there are plenty of “also-ran” cars available, the truly nice ones are hard to find.  This Road Runner is a crowd favorite with its Vitamin C paint and matching interior.  You won’t be disappointed by either the looks or the performance of this Road Runner, and you won’t find another one this nice at this low a price.
