The Best of the Stingray Series

A convertible top, a powerful 427 cid/390 hp V-8, a 4-speed, knock-off wheels, factory air, and awesome performance:  that’s what distinguishes this 1966 Corvette Stingray from most of its stablemates.  Fitted with its hardtop, this car becomes a 4-season threat to anything else on the road.

Mechanically Awesome

Equipped with a numbers-matching 427 cid/390 hp V-8, this Corvette has more power that one would ever need, but enough to bring a grin to your face whenever you punch the accelerator.  This engine bears the last 6 digits of the car’s VIN indicating that it was the original factory engine (see picture).  This Corvette starts immediately and runs right up to redline quicker than you can say “Jack Robinson”—assuming you aren’t left speechless.

This 1966 convertible has 4-speed transmission that shifts properly and smoothly, making this a pleasant car to drive even as all that power is lurking under the hood waiting to be unleashed.  The power finds its way to the wheels through a posi-traction rear end.  With disc brakes all around, this Corvette stops as quick as it starts—well, almost as quickly.

Finishes

·       Exterior

The trim tag on our 1966 convertible shows that this was originally Nassau Blue with a black interior—exactly as it is now after its restoration.  There are indications that the front clip may have been replaced at some point in the car’s history. The paint is in very good condition and was done to almost a show quality level.

The convertible top is white and is in very good condition with a clear back window.  The lowering/raising mechanism works properly.  This car also has a factory hardtop finished in Nassau Blue to match the body finish.

·       Knock-off Wheels

Our 427 comes with the popular factory knock-off wheels, adding to the classiness of this already outstanding Corvette.

·       Interior

The upholstery is black leather as original and is in very good condition with few signs of wear.  It is complimented by black carpeting and black door panels, making an attractive package for an already outstanding sports car.

Safety and Comfort Features

All of the safety features (lights, wipers, horn, turn-signals) work, including the headlight rotation system that is separately activated.  The gauges all work, including the clock and radio!

Remember that this Corvette has the rare factory air conditioning option to make those hot days feel cool, even when sitting at a traffic light under the summer sun.

An Investment-grade Corvette at an Affordable Price

These 427/4-speeds are at the top of the Corvette food chain.  Add in A/C to the equation and this ’66 surpasses other 427’s in terms of all-season drivability.  NADA shows that examples like this fetch north of $100,000 and Keith Martin—the nationally recognized Corvette expert—rates the ’66 427/4-speed as worth as much as $95,000 in his 2011 Price Guide.  We have priced ours at 25% less than those valuations.

AND, It’s Ready to Go!

This is a “no-excuses” Corvette convertible that is ready to roll out of our showroom to a car show, a night on the town, or a pleasant drive into the country.   While we see quite a few Corvettes of this vintage, we have yet to see one any nicer than this Nassau Blue powerhouse.  If you are looking for a really nice Corvette with its original engine, this is it.
