Description:
The 356 Porsches were favorites of a whole generation of
enthusiasts both for their performance on the track as well their
comfort on a road rally or a drive to the tennis courts. The “C” series
was the final refinement of this model, and with the addition of disk
brakes as a standard feature, many collectors believe the 1964 and 1965
Porsches were among the best cars built in that era.
Our 1965 model is a very nice example of the marque. This coupe was restored about three years ago and it is a car in which everything works but the clock and the cigarette lighter. It is spacious by sports car standards, not just because of the jump seats in the rear—making travel with children possible—but because of the roominess of the cabin for the driver and his/her passenger.
The car is finished in a two-stage pearl white finish that reflects light differently from different angles, somewhat akin to the Escalade finish. Although not a stock color, it has a vibrancy not found in the normal white Porsche exteriors. The black interior appears to be original to the car, and is in nice condition without rips, tears or separations. As currently set-up, this 356 has 911 wheels, although a full set of regular wheels and hubcaps will accompany the car to its new owner (see picture).
Mechanically the Porsche functions as it should with the engine running right up to redline and the transmission shifting properly both up and down through the gears. A new and balanced clutch was installed less than 500 miles ago as was a new starter.
The famous Porsche brakes bring the car safely and quickly to a stop from any speed without fade or sponginess. The car tracks straight down the road and hugs the pavement like glue when going through turns. These early Porsches got all the speed they could out of the 1600 cc engines, but their real edge came from their cornering and braking capabilities.
Our 356C is a nice example of the car that
Porsche enthusiasts all love and it delivers on all counts: attractive
to look at, responsive when being driven and just a whole lot of fun.
As nice examples of the 356 get harder to find—and to afford—ours is
guaranteed to meet your approval as well as turning heads wherever you
take it.
