Description:
This 1941 Ford convertible was produced in the first year of a model run
[1941 – 1948] that would be interrupted by the onset of World War II.
This beautiful black Super Deluxe Convertible Club Coupe runs, drives
and looks like it did 66 years ago!
Finished in deep gloss black, the paint is in very good condition with a
few chips and scratches that keep it from being perfect. The chrome is
likewise in very good condition. The black canvas manual convertible top
goes up and down with minimal effort and is free from rips, tears or
discoloration. When down, the top is covered with a nice black canvas
cover trimmed in burgundy. Whether the top is up or down, this
convertible looks great and is an extremely nice example of the series.
The interior is finished in dark tan leather, and the seats and door
panels are in excellent condition. The tan carpet is similarly
excellent. These cars featured a wood-grain painted metal interior trim
package, and that interior trim is all in excellent condition. The radio
appears to be original to the car—and it works. The gauges all work
properly and are cosmetically very nice. The only things that appear not
to function are the odometer (although the speedometer works properly)
and the clock!
The engine is Ford’s flathead V8 and it starts right up, idles smoothly,
and has plenty of torque. The 3-speed transmission works properly and
shifts smoothly, making the car effortless to drive. This isn’t one of
those pre-war cars that required a Charles Atlas to maneuver but is a
well-mannered vehicle that is a pleasure to own and drive.
The car has Firestone whitewall 6.00 X 16 tires that appear to be in
excellent condition. The safety equipment (lights, horn, wipers) all
work, although the wipers are a bit intermittent in their operation and
may require some repair or adjustment. The car comes with an instruction
(owner’s) manual, a service manual, and an original poster of the 1941
Ford line-up of cars.
These pre-war Ford convertibles are hard to find, but finding one in
this condition is almost impossible. This is a car that would be equally
at home at a judged car show, a trip to the theater, Saturday at the
golf course, or a drive to the grocery store. It is a dependable car
that will get you to your destination with comfort and flair.
