1935 Ford "Hump" Street Rod--Steel Body

Year:  1935
Make:  Ford
Model:  5 Windows "Hump" Coup3
Price:  $31,900

Description:

Street rods vary greatly in desirability—and value—depending on the details:  the quality of the mechanical components, the suspension choice, the interior upholstery fit, the quality of the paint work, etc.  This 1935 steel-bodied Ford street rod gets high marks in each department.  This is a top notch vehicle that would cost at least twice as much as our price to replicate, assuming you had the donor body and a year’s worth of patience, and it only has about 5000 miles on the restoration and 500 miles on the performance engine.

Starting with the paint, this ’35 Hump has a high-quality finish that only a few nicks would keep from being national show quality.  The painted on decorative flames attest to the care—and cost—that went into the exterior’s finish—work done by the well-known Mike Robins of Oklahoma City.  As noted, this is a steel-bodied car with fiberglass fenders all finished in a brilliant Viper Red.  Finishing the classy look, there are 4 chrome Vintique wire wheels:  14x7 on the front and 15x7 on the rear.

The interior was likewise done with taste and care.  The gray upholstery—done by “Stitchin by Rick” in Farmington, Arkansas—is the perfect complement to the red exterior finish.  From the carpets to the headliner, the workmanship is excellent.  The front seats are fully adjustable and the seatbacks flip forward for ease of access into the back seat.  The door panels are in excellent condition and have the trademark “35 Hump” embossed into them.  All of the VDO gauges are easily read and work properly; and the steering column tilts to meet the comfort preferences of any driver.  The Sony sound system (AM/FM/CD) is new and is enhanced by high-quality speakers.  Last, but certainly not least, there is an under-dash Old Air A/C unit that blows COLD!

This ’35 Ford has a remanufactured Jasper engine with less than 500 miles on it.  The engine is a Chevy 400 cid with in excess of 350 hp and runs like a new one—which it is.  The engine starts right up and has all the power one could ask for.  The transmission, a Chevy Turbo 350 with lock up, shifts smoothly and effortlessly.   The rear end is an 8” Ford with a 2.79:1 gear ratio.  In addition, this car is equipped with electric overdrive to provide for more economical highway driving.

This car has an original 1935 Ford body and frame (semi-boxed), with a Mustang II front suspension (Michael Thomas Kit) with rear leaf springs  (Pro Sheet Metal Kit).  The car handles and corners properly, and its brakes all around bring it to a straight stop.  On the highway, the car tracks nicely without any wandering or pulling.

This street rod ranks high in all the important areas:

•     Plenty of power from a brand new engine;
•     A high-quality paint job with hand-painted graphics by a well-known designer;
•     Fully-completed and ready to show or go; and
•     A comfortable car to drive with power accessories and a great air conditioner.

This is a unique car that gets attention from the novices and pros alike.  Whether at a car show, a cruise-in or a rally, you will arrive in style (and comfort) and spend the rest of your time handling the compliments.
