A PHS Documented Pontiac GTO Muscle Car
This 1969 PHS Documented (see pictures) GTO is one of the most popular of the American muscle cars. Particularly since it is a numbers-matching vehicle. It has amazing quickness off the line and strong performance throughout its power range. At the same time, this is a car that is as much fun getting to the show, particularly in the summer with its A/C, as it is once you get there. Finding a nice GTO at a reasonable price is difficult, but ours is both: a great restoration of an original car at an affordable price.
A Great Restoration
·
Paint and ChromeThe first thing that jumps out about this GTO is its high quality paint work, a color-change respray in an original 1969 GTO color: Mayfair Maze. The paint is in such excellent condition it could have been done yesterday. The “Judge” stickers and stripes were added to the car during its restoration, but while this is a true, number’s matching GTO, it is not a Judge
The chrome and stainless trim is in very good to excellent condition. All of the windows are in good condition and operate correctly with their power assists.
The body of the car is free of any apparent rust issues, and a close examination of the underside shows it to be similarly clean of corrosion.
·
InteriorThe Black interior was also restored and, as one would expect, the upholstery is free of rips, holes or separations. The car has bucket front seats and a console. The matching door panels are in very good condition and the dash pad is free of cracks or sun damage.
All of the gauges (oil pressure, temperature and amp) work, as does all of the safety equipment (lights, wipers, horn, seat belts, etc.). The tachometer and speedometer are also functioning. We aren’t yet sure whether the gas gauge is functioning since the car has just arrived.
This GTO is equipped at the factory with air conditioning and heat, and we are in the process of evaluating their operating condition but believe them to be working properly.
·
EngineThis Pontiac came from the factory with the 400 cubic inch V-8 producing 350 h.p., with dual Flowmaster exhausts. And it is the original engine that came in the car. There is a Pertronix electronic ignition installed in the distributor for greater reliability as well as performance. The engine compartment is also detailed.
The engine starts right up and runs well, providing all of the thrill that the big 400/350 engine from Pontiac is famous for.
·
TransmissionThe Muncie 4-speed transmission is original to the car and is in perfect working order. It up-shifts and down-shifts easily and is the perfect mate for the powerful engine. Driving this car is made more enjoyable by the ease with which the transmission shifts.
·
Rear End/Brakes/WheelsThe rear end is a 3/23:1 limited slip differential that works perfectly with the 4-speed Muncie and Hurst shifter! This car has power front disc brakes and the wheels are Rally IIs mounted with B.F. Goodrich radial T/As (235-60/15 front and 275-50/15 rear) that have plenty of tread left.
·
